Temporary Works Certificate

Temporary Works Design Certificates (or a Temporary Works Cert) is the design of a temporary structure which is required for the construction of the permanent structure. Temporary Works Design Certificates (TWDC) often take the form of an off standard scaffold design but can involve larger structures also. The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has set out guidelines to follow through the “Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 2005” and under the “Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations, 2006”

Temporary Works Design Certificate normally follows the following process:

  • Upon request by a contractor, client, PSDP or  PSCP  we are requested to provide a TWDC for a particular temporary structure normally on a construction site. We then request a small sketch and explanation in writing of what is proposed.
  • Upon receiving this we can provide a quotation for the TWDC and an approximate timeframe. A typical timeframe turnaround is 1 working week.
  • We then start the process by providing a detailed drawing for approval from the client. Upon approval of the drawing the calculations are carried out.
  • Once the process is complete we provide a Temporary Design Works Certificate, full set of calculations, a copy of our Professional Indemnity Insurances and a detailed drawing which normally incorporated a 3D drawing. All of this is usually carried out by email with a site visit at the beginning of the project and one on completion of the design certificate.
